ShutterFest 2027

Privacy Policy

How the ShutterFest 2027 app uses your information. Last updated October 20, 2026.

Who we are

The ShutterFest 2027 app (the website and the iPhone and Android apps) is run by ShutterFest, a Behind the Shutter event, for people attending ShutterFest 2027 in St. Louis. Questions about this policy or your information: support@behindtheshutter.com.

What we collect

The app is invite-only. We keep only what it needs to run the conference:

  • From your registration: your name, the email you registered with, and your attendee group (for example attendee, speaker, vendor or model).
  • What you add to your profile: a photo, organization, role, website, a social media link, and an email you choose to share. All optional.
  • Your schedule: the classes you register for, waitlists you join, classes and experiences you save, and when you check in at a class or experience.
  • People you meet: your connections (made by scanning QR codes or by request), where you met, and the private notes you write about them.
  • What you write: direct messages, posts in class discussions, your private notes, and any reports you make about people or posts.
  • Notifications: the notices in the app's bell and, in the phone apps, a device code so we can send the push notifications you allow.

We don't use advertising, ad tracking or analytics tools, and we don't collect your location. The camera is used only while you scan a QR code; no pictures are saved.

How we use it

  • To sign you in (we email you a one-time code) and show you the right schedule.
  • To manage class seats, waitlists, check-ins and attendance.
  • To let you connect with, message and find other attendees.
  • To send you notices you've allowed, and announcements about the conference.
  • To keep the app safe: reports, blocks and moderation by ShutterFest staff.

We never sell your information or share it for marketing.

Who can see what

  • Other attendees see your profile (name, photo, organization, role, website, social link, shared email and group) in the attendee list, unless you turn off "Show me in the attendee list". Your sign-in email is never shown.
  • People you connect with can message you, and can download their connections (including what your profile shows) to keep after the conference.
  • Class discussions can be read by anyone who can see that class. Direct messages are only between the two of you.
  • Your notes (on your own or about a connection) are private to you.
  • ShutterFest staff can see registrations, check-ins and attendance to run the event, and review anything that's been reported.

Services we use

Your information is stored and processed by these providers on our behalf, only to run the app:

  • Supabase: the database, sign-in and stored images.
  • Vercel: hosts the app.
  • Postmark: sends the sign-in code emails.
  • Google Firebase, Apple and Google: deliver push notifications in the phone apps.

The app uses cookies only to keep you signed in.

How long we keep it

We delete the personal information in the app 12 months after ShutterFest 2027 ends. Before then you can download your connections and notes from Download my data in the account menu.

Your choices

  • Edit or remove your profile details at any time on My profile.
  • Hide yourself from the attendee list, block people, and turn notifications off.
  • Delete your account from My profile, or email support@behindtheshutter.com. This removes your sign-in, profile and photo, class registrations, connections, conversations and notes; your class discussion posts show as "Post deleted".
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it, at the same address.

Children

The app is for adults attending ShutterFest and isn't meant for children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if the change is significant. See also Help & support.
